The faculty, administration and student body of the Film Division of Columbia University are actively committed to the creation of an ethnically diverse student body; a collection of emerging film-artists whose makeup is as varied as the world around us. We encourage the writing of scripts and creation of films that reflect their wide-ranging experiences and backgrounds. We recognize that the life blood of the film medium comes directly from new stories told in new ways by people of ALL colors and racial heritages.

One of the ways that the Film Division of Columbia University fosters and supports diversity is through its student group, FOCUS. The Film Division also celebrates the achievements of its student filmmakers of color.
