Course Description | This course provides a critical introduction to International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL), focusing on their application in contemporary armed conflicts. Through case studies, simulations, and interactive analysis, students explore legal protections for civilians and combatants, the enforcement of humanitarian norms, and the roles of international courts and tribunals. Topics include detention, civilian targeting, use of new technologies in warfare, and legal challenges posed by non-state armed groups. The course equips students with analytical, research, and communication skills essential for policy, legal, and humanitarian work. |
