| Course Description | Prerequisites: In-depth knowledge of the Commedia. A variable-content research seminar that rotates through various areas of Dante studies. Areas covered in the past include: the history of the ideas of hell, purgatory, paradise; Dante’s relation to the classics; Dante's so-called minor works, such as Convivio, De vulgari eloquentia; Dante's lyric poetry. The Fall 2019 seminar will be devoted to Dante's prose treatises. |
