| Course Description | Introduction to two-dimensional (2D) materials. Crystal structure. Synthesis and characterization. Mechanical behavior. Waves in 2D lattices, and phonon bandstructure. Basic concepts of quantum mechanics. Electronic bandstructure of graphene. Electrical transport in graphene. Optics of 2D semiconductors. Advanced topics include quantum Hall effects; topology; and ‘twisted’ 2D heterostructures. |
