Course Description | Investor & Corporate Stewardship: Influencing Climate & Nature Policies examines how investors and corporations can engage in climate-related policymaking in ways that move beyond voluntary ESG commitments toward systemic, policy-driven change. The course explores the growing influence of financial and corporate actors on climate and environmental policy, and evaluates when and how private sector engagement can support or hinder public interest goals. Through lectures, case discussions, guest speakers, and role play, students will analyze the evolving relationship between markets and government, assess current approaches to policy advocacy, and explore opportunities for stewardship that promote natural capital preservation and climate resilience. The course challenges students to think critically about the limitations of market-led action and the potential for investor and corporate leadership in shaping a sustainable policy landscape. Ideal for students pursuing careers in sustainable finance, climate policy, corporate strategy, or ESG advocacy, this course bridges theory and practice at the intersection of public policy and private capital. |
