| Course Description | This course examines the science behind our understanding of how and why forests are responding to changing climatic baseline conditions, and how this can inform management, mitigation and restoration efforts going forward. We will study how climate change affects forest structure, function, biodiversity, and ecosystem services, and delve into the emerging field of climate-smart forestry. Students will integrate theory with hands-on field methods in a pair of 1-hectare forest plots, where they will learn how to measure, analyze, and interpret climate impacts at local scales. |
