| Course Description | The focus of the course will be on close readings of Kafka’s major texts, which will serve as a prism for discussions of larger social and historical issues. No German required! All readings and discussions will be in English, although students with German will be encouraged to work with the original texts. Undergraduate as well as graduate students will be asked to write four short response papers, take a mid-term exam and write a final paper.
